Re-recorded at Blue Mist Audio and mixed at The Edge Studios 2021 by Arny Sage and Gaz Dupes.

Pete Goodwin and I constructed the backing track and were looking for a singer to work with us on a vocal. John Gage was a singer/songwriter recording at Revolution Studios where I was working at the time, so I mentioned we were looking for a co-writer and he agreed to work on the track with us. Pete and I were knocked out with his input. Written very sympathetically to our backing track it fitted perfectly.

John re-recorded the song with producer Andy Mac at Revolution Studios in a more conventional style and came very close to getting signed with Arista Records Germany.

2021…I was hoping to remix the original multitrack tapes, but sadly they were in poor condition.

Here’s a fairly accurate reconstruction of the original arrangement with a fab vocal from Leighanne Laming.

Having lost touch with John in the 90’s, by a strange coincidence he contacted me in January 2021 to let me know he was releasing the other version of “Heartbeat” on Spotify along with some other demos we worked on together.
